The M.A.S.K. Icon Collection by Gedeon
Maheux
"Select MASK agents best suited for this mission." I loved
hearing that phrase every time I watched MASK after school when I
was a kid. MASK (which stood for Mobil Armored Strike Kommand - yeah
its spelled wrong... so what?) was part of my after school line up
that I always favored instead of homework. The schedule went something
like this: GI Joe, Thunder Cats, Silver Hawkes, MASK & Danger
Mouse. I was a TV junkie, I admit it.
MASK followed the exploits of a team of do-gooders led by Matt Tracker
who had the job of guarding the world against VENOM (Vicious Evil
Network of Mayhem). Both MASK and VENOM agents had super-powered masks
that gave each team member a specific ability. My favorites were Bruce
Sato (the Lifter mask that could levitate objects) and Alex Sector
(the Jackrabbit mask that allowed Alex to "fly" for short
periods of time). The series generated a lot of toys, many of which
I had including MASK headquarters, Boulder Hill. I always thought
it strange that even though Boulder Hill was all decked out with radar
and tons of laser cannons, I can't remember an episode when VENOM
actually attacked the MASK HQ. Must have been a toy thing I guess.
The enclosed folder contains 27 icons based on DIC's 80's cartoon,
M.A.S.K. The set represents the major characters from the early popular
episodes of the show. Almost every major character along with their
appropriate masks are presented here. Creating these icons was a great
chance for me to recapture some of my youth and I hope it sparks memories
for you as it did in me. Enjoy!
Thanks: Huge thanks
go out to Tom Slick of Slick's
MASK Fan Page who helped me id characters and masks. Both his
email and his web site gave me the info I needed to complete the set.
It was also good to know that there are others out there that enjoyed
MASK as much as I did. - Ged
